Compiler option that list unused variables.

Thought I remembered there being a compiler option (OpenVMS) that would create a list of variables in source code that are not used.
Do I remember correctly?

Yes, you are remembering correctly.  The utility is called the ‘Variable Usage utility’.  Below is a link to its documentation page –
