Support Synergy .NET Core code on Linux

Synergy version 10.3.3f added official support for developing Synergy .NET code for the .NET Core platform, and for deploying that code on Windows systems. But .NET Core is a cross-platform environment, supporting among others, the Linux operating system.

The .NET Core platform is particularly well suited for developing and hosting server-side code such as RESTful Web Services, and I believe that a significant number of Synergy developers will be interested in doing exactly that in future years.

I would like Synergex to consider adding support for hosting Synergy .NET Core applications on Linux servers, in addition to the currently supported Windows systems, and I invite other interested parties to register their interest by commenting below.

It would be great if Linux developers could leverage the power of Synergy .NET on their servers, but there is more at stake here. It's also about any developer who may want to deploy services in the cloud in the future. Hosting cloud services in a Linux environment is generally a significantly less expensive, and often higher performance solution than hosting on Windows servers.

Let us know what you think.

We have just been approached by one of our clients who require for their customers a web portal for document and Synergy Data related retrieval and given we are Linux based and what we have been shown at the conference regarding .NET Core can this be escalated

Another BIG YES. In our modernization initiative and running our current application on Linux. We could start to use HarmonyCore to produce our REST api. All running from the Linux server.

Yes yes yes :)

I have been evaluating .NET Core and it's linux abilities which seem great.  Having Synergy.NET work on there would also be awesome as that would mean projects like CodeGen would also work on Linux removing the need to have that one windows server if you were using the repository to code generate for linux

We delivered hosting for Linux systems in SDE 12.1, and have now added the ability to build Synergy Visual Studio projects on Linux in SDI 2025.12.2909! More information about hosting on Linux systems can be found in this SDE release blog post, and additional information about building on Linux in this SDI release blog post.
